The Delta Ladies duo and band
DELTA LADIES are multi-instrumental duo who play nation-wide; they are Vicky Martin & Diana Stone. Vicky plays Guitar,Dulcimer & Diana plays Piano & Fiddle. They play an eclectic range of originals & covers based on classic vintage rhythm & blues, swing and rock & roll, plus Bluegrass and American roots music. The duo was described by Live Music London’s reviewer as “two lovely London ladies of doubtful origin but definite talent.”
DELTA LADIES often expands to trio or band – adding Lee Collins percussion or drums, and Anita Mazzotta – vocals. Former Nine Below Zero & Yardbirds harmonica player Alan Glen joins the band for some shows.
The DELTA LADIES have played over 1300 shows in the UK and France including London’s 100 Club, the Famous Eel Pie Club (home of British Blues), Round Midnight Islington, Blues Kitchen, Tunnels Bristol, Blues at the Farm. They have appeared at several festivals including an appearance with French Band AWEK at the Blues at Beziers Festival, they were backing band for Linda Gail Lewis (Jerry Lee’s sister). Support slots have included Chris Farlowe, Larry Garner, Hans Theesink, Larry Miller & Jerry Donahue.
DELTA LADIES have a glowing reputation for varied entertaining shows. Diana Stone’s fiddle showcases are a noted highlight; particularly Neil Young’s ‘Like a Hurricane’, ‘ and Americana classics ‘Orange Blossom Special’ and ‘Mystery Train’. Shows include R&B & Swing tunes from Fats Domino, Ray Charles, Louis Jordan, T Bone Walker, and a selection of American roots music on traditional Appalachian instruments.
The DELTA’s second album ‘They Can’t Take Away My Rock & Roll’ launched at London’s 100 Club early in 2013. A new duo album will be released later this year.
